Ralph Jeffreys

Is a director and writer living in London. Previously, he assisted Kathryn Hunter on the world premiere of Josh Azouz’s play Gigi & Dar (Arcola Theatre) and was associate director on Mohit Mathur’s Are You Even Indian? and Dial One for UK (Riverside Studios and international tours) as well as Corrine Jaber’s In Transit (Theatro Technis). He has also worked as a facilitator on an upcoming Oscar Wilde adaptation by Tonderai Munyevu (Watford Palace). 

Most recently he was associate director and dramaturg on Flabbergast’s Endgame. This included research into Beckett’s notebooks and old drafts of the play to dig deeper into Beckett’s thinking around Endgame and find new ways of approaching it that still remained faithful to his vision.

While a student he directed a production of Sarah Kane’s Phaedra’s Love which was praised by Simon Kane as ‘better than most professional productions’ he had seen. His final university show was a double bill of David Mamet’s Prairie du Chien and Stephen Jeffreys’ Bugles at the Gates of Jalalabad in a production that utilised storytelling, live soundscaping and Brechtian principles to blend the two unrelated texts into a unique show.

Additionally, he is a magazine editor at The Fence and Space Junk as well as a freelance writer whose work has appeared in AnotherMan, The Literary Review, and The Fence. He has academic work published by the Erasmus Forum as an historian and is currently preparing his first two plays: Take Me At My Word and 4 Things God Wants You To Know.
